My #vanlife voyage to the Pac-12 Championship with Lincoln Kennedy

It’s not every day I get to go to a tailgate with Washington Huskies and Oakland Raiders legend Lincoln Kennedy.

The 6-foot-7 former lineman was the star of the #VanLife tailgate experience that preceded the Pac-12 Championship game presented by 76.

This bus is a 1975 Volkswagon Microbus. It’s actually the newest of the Painted Ladies Tour Guide’s fleet of vans.

Kennedy, along with a cast of characters including myself, Aubrey Aquino of ABC 7, Leslie from Spotted SF, and Levi Damien and Tyler Green of Silver and Black Pride, first went to Hayward to give away FREE GASOLINE.

We did so via the new 76 Mobile Pay option on the My 76 app, available of course at the App Store or Google Play. We were promoting a special cashback benefit on the My 76 app running through December.

Then it was off to Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium for the game. But not before we ran into all the mascots from the Pac-12 at Great America, the site of our tailgate.

We went right for the food, prepared by Chef Ravi Kapur of Liholiho Yacht Club in San Francisco. I actually had some homemade spam, and it was delicious.

I had the chance to interview Kennedy, and a feature story on the big man will be posted soon.

After the interview, we went to the 76 fan experience and took some fun photos. Here are me and Aubrey from ABC 7.

From there it was off to the game. Here’s a shot of me, Aubrey, Kennedy, Damien and Green just before hitting the game thanks to 76!

Washington and Utah to meet for Pac-12 Championship: Waiting for the Replay will be there

After a hard-fought Pac-12 football regular season, just two contenders remain.

The Utah Utes from the Pac-12 South will battle the Washington Huskies from the North division at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium on Nov. 30, and Waiting for the Replay will be there.

I’ll be covering the #VanLife tailgate experience presented by 76, the championship game’s sponsor. The tailgate features former Washington Husky great Lincoln Kennedy and acclaimed local chef Ravi Kapur.

Kennedy also had a distinguished NFL career, most notably with the Oakland Raiders. Kapur is the proprietor of Liholiho Yacht Club in San Francisco, which specializes in cuisine from Kapur’s home state of Hawaii.

It’s going to be a great time, and I’ll tell you all about it. I watched Kennedy play with the Raiders, where he appeared in a Super Bowl, and Kapur and I have mutual friends from my time in the food industry.

I’ll get to watch the game too, of course. Washington took care of rival Washington State to advance to the title match. Utah rose to the top of what was once a tightly contested South division. The winner will have lifetime bragging rights as the 2018 Pac-12 champion.
